Trident Ploughshares members took part in the International Fast from Aug 6-9th this year to commemorate the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.In London the Fast was small but strong, blowing bubble not bombs at 10 Downing Street, and chalking messages like:
- Nuclear Disarmament is coming – Britain will just look silly,
- July 2017 – the UN passes the nuclear ban treaty [tick],
- August 2018 – 60 nations have signed up and 20 have ratified [tick],
- 2019 – When 50 have ratified, the nuclear ban treaty becomes international law [smiley face],
onto the paving at the MOD. 
There were intense conversations with MoD employees daily, and then the Pax Christi and Peace Pagoda interfaith ceremonies later on Nagasaki day, as beautiful, sincere and strong as ever.
