Meanwhile Russia and some NATO countries are making implied threats of using nuclear weapons against each other over Russia’s war in Ukraine.
On April 30th it was reported that French and American nuclear-missile armed submarines were at the UK Trident nuclear-missile submarine base at Scotland. This is clearly meant as a joint nuclear warning to Russia.
On Saturday 16th June there are to be European-wide actions to call on NATO countries & Russia to renounce such threats and to sign the TPNW.
In London on 16th June there will be a series of half-hour vigils at the Russian, French and German Embassies and at 10 Downing Street calling on the four countries to renounce the threat of nuclear weapon use and to sign the TPNW. There will also be leafleting of the general public at each place and the handing of letters asking the countries concerned to sign the TPNW.
The timetable is:
10-10.30am near the Russian Embassy at the junction of Kensington Palace Gardens and Bayswater Road, W8
11-11.30am at the French Embassy at 58 Knightsbridge SW1
Noon-12.30pm at German Embassy, 23 Belgrave Square/Chesham Place SW1.
1.30-2pm outside Downing Street.
We’ll be taking the tube between the Russian and French Embassies and walking from the French Embassy to Downing Street via the German Embassy.
Join us wherever you like.
