Fast & Days of Action from Hiroshima Day to Nagasaki Day, August 6th-9th 2021

FAST AND DAYS OF ACTION FROM HIROSHIMA DAY TO NAGASAKI DAY, August 6th-9th

This international fast and days of action to remember the victims of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 has been held in many countries over many years.

Its message is particularly important this year, with the threat of nuclear war increasing due to: many countries, including the UK, increasing their nuclear arsenals; rising nationalism increasing the chance of military conflict; rising tensions between the West and China.

With the coming into force of the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons this year there is some cause for hope, but none of the nine countries currently having nuclear weapons have agreed to abide by this Treaty

In view of this, we invite you to join us in this fast and days of action, to protest at the increasing dangers of another nuclear war and to raise public awareness of these dangers.

In Britain this Annual International Hiroshima-Nagasaki Fast, and associated vigils and actions, will be followed in Bristol, London and elsewhere. It will also be held in over 6 other countries around the world.

Fasting is a strong form of protest, anyone taking part will be joining hundreds of fasters around the world, and perpetuating a tradition set up nearly 40 years ago. Come and Support the fast if not fasting by joining in the actions.

We invite you to come and join us, whether fasting or not, at these locations:
