FABB Disarmament Camp starts its activities at the Nuclear Bases

The FABB camp grows and starts the calling for vigils for nuclear disarmament now. States Parties are gathering in Vienna for the 1st CoP for the TPNW. Around 50 singers and protesters gathered at Faslane Main Gate at 11 am on Sunday 12th June and then again at Coulport Main Gate around 1pm to Sing Out Trident. Specially composed songs about the UN Treaty to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons were sung along with more traditional peace songs. The large CND symbol towed by a red van then slowly progressed around the roundabout many times before stopping in front of the main gates. Dancers and singers, banners and protesters were celebrating the continuation of the Faslane Peace Camp for 40 years while decrying the need for it. ‘The Edinburgh based Protest in Harmony group progressed down to the main gate at Coulport surprising the police into blockading the base for us’, said Angie Zelter of Trident Ploughshares.

The death of Bruce Kent was mourned and many renewals of commitments to nuclear disarmament were made.
